Rather than just counting preps, handle it like a story. If you are telling the tale of a ressurrection through actions, consider that you would probably need some detailed lines describing the current state and position of the body and such, and its relationship to you spacially, just to give information on setting.
Then:
Your char needs to start to draw on whatever force/knowledge/entity/whatever that is going to allow it to find the soul if it's not there, or see it if it is, and subsequently manipulate it and the body. If soul-manipulation is an innate ability, as it is with some kinds of demons, then, for the sake of the story, you need to acknowledge/reconfirm that power of your own. (That's a prep in and of itself, or several, depending on how you want to space it out.)
Whether you're combining powers or doing it by yourself, you need to connect the power you are drawing on and the soul and/or body of the person you are ressing. If the power you are drawing on is latent in the realm or underlying, then your lines should be in acknowledgement of that fact. (That's another, or a few more.)
*If the body has been wrecked, it would probably be counterproductive to put the soul back in it. So if it is, since your power is connected to the body, you should probably heal it. Cuts should be closed, poison should be cleansed out -- unless the power you are drawing on somehow counters these things anyway. (Maybe another several in this one.)*
Once whatever power you are using is connected to the soul and/or body, and the body itself is sound, you'll probably want to start using the power to bind the two together, right? Whether your style of ress consists of simply moving the soul back into the body assuming that it would bind itself there, or of altering either the body or soul so that they will stay in place or whatever, you should probably take this one in several steps that describe the free soul's relation to the body it will be housed in, to you, and to the power you are using. (There are potentially several more in there.)
Whether that last part takes 3 preps or 10 depends on the resser's skill level, power level, will power, and maybe even whether or not the soul in question WANTS to be embodied again -- depending on how dramatic you want to get with it. But after it's done, whatever the result, you should probably follow through with another few lines, just to let everyone know things like: Is the energy still latched onto the ressed person's soul/body? Are you on the verge of unconsciousness, or rejuvenated from communion with the power you used? How should the ressed person be feeling? In pain? Tired? Young? -- any of a thousand things. (Consider: Would a power tremendous enough to bring someone back to life just vanish as soon as it's done? If so, you should probably say why -- or even that you have no idea why, just to let the other PLAYERS know what happened. If it will remain in the body/soul, say that too. Anything, to give the other players information.)
These are merely suggestions. If you're still in love with the idea of just counting preps, this will give you plenty. RPing is group storytelling, and you only really enter the realm of "bad RP," as they say, when you stop telling good stories for whatever reason.
